about

That song is about my mother's condition last winter. Every winter thing get harder for her and days get shorter. Sunlight is rare in her apartment. I do my best to help her up but it's often very tough due to the depression state she is in. Since she is my mother it's hard to see things clearly and as they are. I get lost and entangled in arguments with her when she goes to that place.

lyrics

-- Lyrics --

Blame it on the weather
Blame it on the others
Antidepressants
Are killing my mother
She sleeps until the fire
Dives into the west
And as little as I'm giving
I'm trying to do my best

Depending on the days
I don't have the strength
To carry her on my shoulders
As low as she can get
And as much pain as she feels
When she tells you about it
It hurts
Mother won't you start
Looking up to the sun
It shines

Blame it on her brother
Blame it on her father
On things that were never
Given to her
And even if that's just
A side of the story
No one deserve
Such misery

Depending on the days
I don't have the strength
To carry her on my shoulders
As low as she can get
And as much pain as she feels
When she tells you about it
It hurts
Mother won't you start
Looking up to the sun
It shines

Walking on death row
Cause doctor says so

When summer goes
And winter comes
It's hard to know
How things will go
After the glow
On death row

about

Jesse Mac Cormack Montreal, Québec

SOLO is the sound of that transformation, recorded over the course of a year and a half, marked by its hardships but also its relief. Across 10 rippling tracks, the singer summons a sonic world that's razor-edged and intimate, influenced by the textured electronics of James Blake, Caribou and SUUNS. Drum machines stutter under blooms of synths; curses float below swirls of loving sound. ... more
